This open access book provides a panoramic view of the evolution of Spanish agriculture from 1900 to the present, offering a more diverse picture to the complex and multidimensional reality of agrarian production. With a clear transdisciplinary ambition, the book applies an original and innovative theoretical and methodological tool, termed Agrarian Social Metabolism, combining Social Metabolism with an agroecological perspective. This integrative analysis is especially interesting for environmental scientists and policy makers being the best way to design sustainable agroecosystems and public policies capable of moving us towards a more sustainable food system. Spanish agricultural production has experienced impressive growth during the 20th century which has allowed it to ensure the supply of food to the population and even to transform some crops into important chapters in foreign trade. However, this growth has had its negative side since it was based on the injection of large amounts of external energy, on the destruction of employment and the loss of profitability of agricultural activity. But perhaps the most serious part is the strong impact of the current industrialised agriculture model on Spanish agroecosystems, exposed to the overexploitation of hydric resources, pollution of the water by nitrates and pesticides, high erosion rates and an alarming loss of biodiversity; damage which in the immediate future will end up reducing production capacity.

This presentation discusses the work towards a second generation reusable launch vehicle (RLV). The goals of the second generation RLV program are reviewed. These include cost, safety, and propulsion advances. The Fluid dynamics technologies under development are discussed. These include the altitude compensating nozzle technology, the Aerospike plume induced base heating, the inducer testing technology. Pictures of altitude compensating nozzles Aerospike Plume Induced Base Heating results and Inducer testing technologies are included. Further goals of the program are to improve the methodology for optimizing design of the injectors, to improve the optimization of the turbopump and improvement of the methodology to analyze the engine performance. Studies on the governance of the firm have been traditionally grounded in economic theories of the firm. While those theories have certainly been useful to explain particular aspects of the governance of corporations in the last century, some voices in the fields of economics and strategic management have started to articulate an extended view of the governance of the firm. In the three papers of this dissertation I contribute to this extended view of firm governance by providing new theoretical insights and additional empirical evidence on this topic.

The Semantic Web has been around for some years with recent advances in mature technologies and applications. Lately, its development has been demonstrated in its contribution to businesses through the enhancement of e-commerce. The contribution of this work is to apply a semantic approach based on web ontologies to Digital Rights Management. The main result is the development of a copyright ontology. It models the copyright core concepts for creations, rights and the basic kinds of actions that operate on them through their value chain. The set of actions operating on content are the building blocks that combined cope with the complexity of the copyright domain. At the same time, their simplicity guarantees a high level of interoperability and evolvability. The resulting copyright modelling framework is flexible and complete enough to model many copyright scenarios, not just those related to the economic exploitation of content. Additionally, the ontology design and the selection of tools result in a straightforward implementation. Rights are modelled as classes of actions, action patterns are modelled also as classes and concrete actions are modelled as instances. Then, to check if some right or license grants an action is reduced to check for class subsumption and instance classification, which are the main functionalities of Description Logic reasoners.
